25 Bookish Facts… About Me!

CaptureI was watching some older BookTube videos and came across this 25 Bookish Facts tag. I really wanted to do this so… here we are! The generally consensus is that no one really knows who started the tag, so props to you if it was you!

1. When I started hanging around the book community, it was strictly on tumblr… which probably was not the best initiation into the book community. But I thought the word “bookish” was super cute until someone commented on one of my posts with “Ugh, I hate that word!” They were pretty big in the community and I was SUPER humiliated because people were agreeing with them… on my post… so I got to see all of their responses. It took me a while to be like “Psch, I love the word bookish!” (That person is STILL a killjoy)

2. I rarely mark my page. I just have a really good memory for what page I was on.

3. I don’t care different covers. When everyone else has a heart attack about cover changes, I’m just like “Yeah, ok.”

4. I also don’t care if I own a series in paperback/hardback mix. A lot of times I end up with a paperback first book and hardback sequel… and that’s no big deal to me.

5. I took a reading class in sixth grade, not understanding it was supposed to be for kids who had problems reading. Somehow the school missed that and when the teacher realized I really, really loved reading and had great comprehension, she just let me read books and write book reports for class grades. That was probably the happiest school year of my life.

6. In 9th grade, my English teacher held a competition to see who could read the most books in the school year. I won with 112 books and she gave me a $100 gift card to the book store.

7. I don’t understand the obsession with bookish candles. Y’all could find the same thing at the store, I’m just saying.

8. I am super terrible at remembering characters in series. If I have any gap between the first book and the next, I’m like “WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE??”

9. I almost dread the Q&A portion of book panels because someone ALWAYS asks a question with a spoiler attached. Y’all. Not everyone has read the book in question. Please don’t do that ish!

10. I’ve read the entire Harry Potter series 7 times. Magical numbers, y’all.

11. When I was in elementary school, I always entered those young author conferences and my first year doing it, I got to meet Bill Martin, Jr., the author of CHICKA CHICKA BOOM BOOM. A few “young authors” were invited to his friend’s house who lived very close to where we lived at the time. I went with my teacher and… it was mostly adults there because the other kids had backed out. When he was signing my book, I started crying because I was really overwhelmed by all the adults (I had anxiety even as a kid) and I just remember he was so kind to me and asked me to sit behind the desk with him and have snacks.

12. I was also published in an elementary school poetry anthology. I had written a poem about my dad and it was selected… and that sounds really good until the anthology was published and a parent complained because they said my poem couldn’t have been written by a kid. (It wasn’t JUST me. She picked 4 or 5 other poems out, too, because no one could write poetry better than her child, apparently) It became a “thing” and we actually had like this meeting where my Mom was like “We hate poetry… it’s pretentious, why would we write it for her?” I think that convinced them.

13. I never look at the maps in a book. Whoops.

14. I don’t ever plan to have a clear TBR shelf.

15. HOWEVER, I would like to get that TBR shelf down to a manageable level.

16. I am super bad about requesting books on NG before seeing what the rating is on Goodreads. Probably would save me a headache…

17. I try to take notes on individual stories in anthologies… but I generally get tired of that about half-way through and just stop.

18. When I fancast a male lead in any book… I just imagine Matthew Daddario. I don’t care if the author says he’s skinny, blonde, and short- he’s Matthew Daddario.

19. All female leads in a book are Devery Jacobs. I don’t make the rules. She’s beautiful.

20. I used to never read more than 1 book at a time but lately I’ve been reading 2-3 at a time. It helps me balance books I really want to read, review books, and projects.

21. I can’t do audiobooks. I’ve tried. I don’t know if it’s because I’m HoH, but I feel like I don’t retain anything from the book.

22. I don’t lend my favorite books to anyone. It’s silly because if something terrible was to happen, I could just buy another copy but my brain tells me it wouldn’t be the same.

23. Twilight is the book that got me into YA.

24. I always take the dust jacket off of my book before I read it. I hate the way they slide around and basically try to undress themselves. Like, just let me do it for you. (That came out weird)

25. My parents have NO IDEA how I learned how to read. Apparently when I was 3, I just picked up the newspaper and asked my Dad what a freedom reward was. When he took the paper, he realized I was actually reading the paper. We sort of believe it’s because my parents read to me with the book turned towards me so I just… learned how to read that way? I don’t know but I haven’t stopped reading since!

Those are my 25 Bookish Facts! I always feel weird about tagging people, so if you want to talk about your bookish stuff, please feel free to do so!

Capture.PNGI saw this on a board, but wasn’t sure who the original creator was! If you know (or if it’s you!) let me know so I can give proper credit!

1. Greed. What’s your most inexpensive book? Your most expensive?

10893214I have a lot of inexpensive book (I shop used and library sales) but I know I did get a copy of THE CAVENDISH HOME FOR BOYS AND GIRLS by Claire Legrand for a nickel at a thrift store in Tennessee. It was in perfect condition so that was definitely a lucky find!

8878844Most expensive definitely goes to JOHNNY HALLOWEEN: TALES OF THE DARK SEASON by Norman Partridge. I fell in love with DARK HARVEST and was super disappointed to discover that both DARK HARVEST and JOHNNY HALLOWEEN were out of print. I found DARK HARVEST for fairly cheap but JOHNNY HALLOWEEN was limited to 1500 signed copies… and I found one on Amazon for $30. Steep price for such a small book but I would definitely have paid more for it to complete my collection.

2. Wrath. What author do you have a love/hate relationship with.

I have a lot of those, to be honest! But in lieu of keeping my petty down, I’m not going to say anything other than there is one particular author whose raven boys I like… but not her.

3. Gluttony. What book have you devoured over and over again with no shame?

Let’s be real, no one is surprised at this answer. I would read Becky Albertalli’s grocery list. While I haven’t read SIMON but twice this year, I have completely wrecked myself over THE UPSIDE OF UNREQUITED. Becky just knows how to write a feel good story.

4. Sloth. What book have you neglected due to laziness?

I don’t know why I can’t finish this book other than the fact that I am HELLA intimidated by the sheer size of it and there’s only so many reading positions with a book that size. My goal was to finish this before I saw the movie but with 600 pages left… I don’t think that’s going to be happening. I will finish it.

One day.

Some day.

5. Pride. What book do you talk about a lot in order to sound like an intellectual reader.

I haven’t bragged about any books in a long, long time but when I was a kid, I definitely liked to point out that I had read some of John Steinbeck’s most famous works. Even then, I don’t think it was to make myself seem smarter… I just genuinely enjoyed his works and I think adults made a bigger deal out of it than I did.

6. Lust. What attributes do you find attractive in female characters? (The original question said male but… I’m not attracted to men sooooo… change how you want.)

I am definitely attracted to unlikable female characters. And by unlikable, I mean more along the lines of characters who don’t act how we expect them to. I like characters who show that they are hurt, act on that hurt, but also know how and when to apologize. Also, I really love Leah Burke.

7. Envy. What book would you most like to receive as a gift right now?

SO. MANY??? But mainly TIMEKEEPER and THE DREADFUL TALE OF PROSPER REDDING (I have an ARC but that hardcover is hearteyes)

And that’s it for this tag!

Zombie Apocalypse Book Tag!

Last week was a pretty terrible week for content on my blog. And by pretty terrible, I mean I didn’t post anything. Between work, seeing my godkids off to school, and some pretty devastating personal news, I just didn’t feel like being present.

But I am back this week with another book tag! The Zombie Apocalypse Book Tag, actually. While I’m not sure who created this, I think it’s super fun and if you know who credit goes to, please let me know so I can give props to them.

The rules are pretty simple: pick 10 books from your bookshelf and flip to a random page. The first character you see on that page becomes a member of your team. Write down the names on individual slips of paper and at random, choose a character for each question!

1. The first person to die?

Monty (THE GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE TO VICE AND VIRTUE). You know it’s not hard to imagine Monty not surviving the zombie apocalypse. I’m not sure my dude would want to live in meltdown with no dances, spirits, or, er, prancing to keep his mind company.

2. The person you trip to escape the zombies?

Willowdean aka Dumplin’ (DUMPLIN’). Sorry, girl. Nothing personal.

3. First person to turn into a zombie?

Genie Lo (THE EPIC CRUSH OF GENIE LO). Wow, talk about being screwed. I don’t think even turning into a zombie would make Genie less badass and ready to kick ass. Let’s just hope we get a huge head start.

4. The person who trips you to escape the zombies?

Dimple Shah (WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI). I can actually see this happening and… I’m not even mad.

5. The idiot of the team?

Luna Lovegood (HARRY POTTER). I don’t think idiot is a good term. Luna would definitely be the dreamy one of the group, still talking about invisible creatures while the zombies are literally on our heels.

6. The brains of the team?

Prosper Redding (THE DREADFUL TALE OF PROSPER REDDING). Prosper is pretty good at thinking on his feet. While he’s not the smartest guy around, he’s dealt with demons… he’d know his way around a horde of zombies.

7. The teams medic?

Nikolai (SHADOW AND BONE). Nikolai has seen a lot of battles and wounds… I think we’d be in good hands with him.

8. The weapons expert?

Adam (THE RAVEN CYCLE). While Adam doesn’t seem to know that much about weapons, he is extremely smart and I don’t think it would take him long to figure out the ins and outs of it.

9. The Brawler?

Jane Sinner (NICE TRY, JANE SINNER). I can see Jane being the one not afraid of backing some zombies up.

10. The team captain?

Leah (SIMON VS). Leah would definitely be the level headed one to take charge and keep the team in line.

So, what do you think of my zombie apocalypse team? Think we’d survive or are we screwed?

R.I.P It or Ship It

I found this tag floating around and haven’t been able to pin down just where it started. But, this seems like a super fun tag and I wanted to get in on it. If you know who created this tag (or maybe it was you!) please let me know so I can add proper credit.

The gist of this tag is simple: write down an even number of character names (I picked 20) and put them in a container to be selected at random. Pull out two names and tell whether you ship them.. or rip them.

Reid (Upside of Unrequited) and Dimple (When Dimple Met Rishi)

Ship! I think Reid’s overall niceness would go well with some of Dimple’s more rough edges.

Molly (Upside of Unrequited) and Felicity (The Gentleman’s Guide)

R.I.P! I’m not sure if Felicity is aroace or just ace… but either way, she doesn’t seem to want any kind of relationship. I think they’d be great friends, though!

Anne and Gilbert (Anne of Green Gables)

SHIP SHIP SHIP! I think it’s totally fate that I pulled these out together. Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe just belong together!

Adam and Gansey (The Raven Cycle)

Ship! Another fate pairing, I was so disappointed they didn’t fall in love in the books.

Kevin (The Foxhole Court) and River (Between the Devil and…)

R.I.P! Two self obsessed boys seems like a recipe for trouble. I think River would definitely dominate Kevin and that boy is already messed up. No, no, sons. Not today.

Elise (This Song Will Save Your Life) and Anise (Girl Out of Water)

SHIP!! I think these two have a lot in common. Elise would teach Anise how to DJ and Anise would teach Elise how to surf.

Simon (SIMON VS) and Neil (The Foxhole Court)

Ship! Simon would be so good for Neil and I think having a supportive family base would do wonders for Neil.

Starr (THUG) and Abby (My Best Friend’s Exorcism)

R.I.P. I think Starr would be weary of Abby’s white girl antics.

Dumplin’ (DUMPLIN’) and Nox (Dorothy Must Die)

Ship! I don’t know why I ship this other than I ship all hot dudes with Dumplin’. She deserves it.

Leah (SIMON VS) and Kaz (SOC)

Ship! Why does Leah and Kaz get paired together for every tag I do? It’s fate. It has to be. I think Leah and Kaz would get along as well as they get along with anyone else. Plus, Kaz would totally rip Martin’s eye out for her. I’m here for it.

I hope you enjoyed this tag!

You’re Not Good Enough Book Tag!

This tag was created by ReadLikeWildfire and Beccathebookreviewer, and the premise of the tag is this: Write down 30 character names on a individual slips of paper and toss them in a bowl (hat, dish, whatever). For each of the 15 question, select two names. From the two names selected, pick who you would keep and who you would say “You’re not good enough” to!

1. You only have one more spot on your Spelling Bee team. Who would you pick to complete your team?

Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter) vs Miel (When The Moon Was Ours)

I’ve got to go with… Luna! After learning all those complicated spells and writing all those essays, I know my girl has to be good spelling.

2. Both characters want to kill you, which one do you kill first to have a better chance of surviving?

Amy (Dorothy Must Die) vs Starr (The Hate U Give)

Amy. She’s a skilled fighter and a trained killer. Starr better run… I think I’m probably not going to survive that fight… and then Amy’s coming for her.

3. You’re on the bachelor/bachelorette an you’re down to these two characters, which one are you going to give your rose too?

Reid (Upside of Unrequited) vs Finn (Bone Gap)

Oh no! This is actually a super hard one because these are two of my favorite fictional boys. As much as I love sweet Reid… I think I’m going to have to go with Finn. I just love a dreamer.

4. You’ve been chosen for the Hunger Games, who would most likely volunteer in your place?

Gansey (The Raven Cycle) vs Percy (Percy Jackson Series)

Another hard one. I think both would be really likely to volunteer… but I’m going to go with Gansey just because I think he would impulsively volunteer (my son has no sense of his self worth) with Percy would have inner conflict before ultimately volunteering. So, Gansey would win because of timing?

5. You’re stranded on an island. Which character would you sacrifice to engage in cannibalism?

Shahrzad (The Wrath and the Dawn) vs Weezie (Weezie/Bebe series)

Sorry fictional Weezie… there can only be one.

6. You’re the next DC/Marvel superhero (with your own tv show of course), who is your sidekick?

Lara Jean vs Peter K (both from To All the Boys)

Peter K. I love Lara Jean but I feel like Peter K would have less problems with beating the bad guys up and destroying an entire city in the process.

7. You’re a manager of an Avocado admiring company, who would you fire for lack of communication skills?

Dumplin (Dumplin) vs Anne (Anne of Green Gables)

Dumplin. Listen, no one is EVER going to accuse Anne of not communicating. Plus, Dumplin has a habit of holding things in. Right, Bo?

8. You’ve just finished a book in which your favorite character dies, which character is most likely to comfort you?

Anise (Girl Out of Water) vs Nox (Dorothy Must Die)

While I think my boy, Nox, would be down for kicking whatever book upset me, I don’t think he’s going to be much comfort. Anise would probably be the one to step in.

9. Ugh, it’s high school. Who would most likely be part of the popular clique?

Simon (Simon VS) vs Bebe (Weezie/Bebe series)

Bebe is already a socialite! She was definitely the popular girl in school.

10. The day has arrived; you’re finally a year older! Who would have the nerve to forget your birthday?

Monty (The Gentleman’s Guide) vs Cas (Anna Dressed in Blood)

While I don’t think either of these guys would be very good at remembering birthdays, I think Cas would probably be more likely to forget. He’s got ghosts to kill and no time to remember… well, anything else.

11. You’ve just found an upcoming booktube star? Who would most likely be?

Inej (Six of Crows) vs Nikolai (Shadow and Bone)

Are you kidding?? The love of my life, Nikolai, would NEVER miss a chance to do a little preening. He’d definitely be a daily vlogger.

12. Sleepover time! Unfortunately you can only invite one person, who would you invite?

Molly (Upside of Unrequited) vs Kevin (The Foxhole Court)

Molly! We would definitely have a pinterest sleepover party. Plus, Kevin is my babe but he’d probably just get drunk and talk about Exy all night. Nope.

13. Bam, you’re pregnant. Who’s the father/mother?

Ashish vs Dimple (When Dimple Met Rishi)

I mean… I’m going to say Ashish.

14. You’ve just written a super important text. Who would ‘see’ it, but not reply?

Mackie (The Replacements) vs Gilbert (Anne of Green Gables)

Mackie. Gil is too much of a gentleman to ever ignore someone on anything important.

15. You’ve just woken up and it’s time for breakfast. Your mum’s been replaced by..who?!

Leah (Simon VS) vs Kaz (Six of Crows)

Can I just raise myself? I mean, in the long run… Leah is probably the best option. I love Kaz just.. nah.

And that’s it for this tag! Any of my picks you disagree with? Let me know!

My Life in Books Tag!

Capture.PNGThe My Life In Books Tag was originally created by The Journeys of A Girl.

Instead of my normal Wishing and Waiting Wednesday, I decided to change things up a little and do the My Life In Books tag!

1. Find a book for each of your initials.

AAlice in Wonderland

L– The Little Prince

W– The Worst Witch

2. Count your age along your bookshelf. Which book is it?

27774758AN EMBER IN THE ASHES by Sabaa Tahir… which I still have not read.

3. Pick a book set in your city/country.

tkmNot set in my city but TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD by Harper Lee is set in my state! (Alabama)

4. Pick a book that represents a place you’d love to visit.

auACROSS THE UNIVERSE by Beth Revis is set in space… and I kinda really want to go!

5. Pick a book that’s your favorite color.

bhTHE BOOK OF BROKEN HEARTS by Sarah Ockler is a great books with a beautiful purple cover! My favorite color!

6. What book do you have the fondest memories of?

hpI’ve talked before about how I came to have my first Harry Potter book that Christmas Eve MANY MANY YEARS AGO (gosh, I’m getting old) and even though my feelings towards Rowling are rocky at best… I can’t ever forget what Harry Potter gave to me as a young, lonely kid.

7. Which book did you have the most difficulty reading?

137791DIVINE SECRETS OF THE YA-YA SISTERHOOD by Rebecca Wells is an awesome book but it covers some super heavy topics that made me put the book down several times. I love all of the companion novels to this, too, but they all make me cry!

8. Which book in your TBR pile will give you the biggest feeling of accomplishment when you finish it?

And that wraps up this tag! I tag anyone who wants to do this!

Unpopular Opinions: BOOK EDITION!

Capture.JPGThe Unpopular Opinions Book Tag was originally created by TheBookArcher!

I want to preface this post with the same disclaimer everyone else uses: These are just my opinions and they aren’t meant to hurt, embarrass, or otherwise stress anyone out. I love the book community and how we all have different opinions on books and authors… and these are just mine!

1. A popular book you did not like.

25526296EVERY HEART A DOORWAY by Seanan McGuire. This was continuously pitched to me as THE asexual book I needed in my life and that it was right up my alley on the creepy scale.

But I was so underwhelmed with the story, hated the main character, and gave this book away as soon as I was finished. I have no plans to read the companion novel and I kind of wish I had never read it just so I could pretend to be hyped about it without having to say “Actually… I hated it…”

2. A popular book or series everyone else seems to hate but you love.

18053060THE DOROTHY MUST DIE series by Danielle Paige.

I have seen so many people talk about how boring this series is but I love it so much? Maybe it’s because I’m a huge fan of retellings and “after the story ends” books. Maybe it’s because Danielle Paige is literally the sweetest human being I’ve ever met. Either way, I love this series, I love Amy and Nox, and I’m HOPING that THE END OF OZ wasn’t actually the end.

3. A love triangle where the main character ends up with someone you didn’t want them to end up with or an OTP you don’t like.

Gansey should not have ended up with Blue. Gansey should have ended up with Ronan and Adam. Listen, you know it’s true.

4. A popular book genre you hardly ever reach for.

Sci-Fi. I don’t understand present day technology… don’t expect me to understand made up technology.

5. A popular or beloved character you do not like.

16068905Cath from FANGIRL.

I hated her so much. Like the only reason I finished the story was because of Levi. While I totally understood her worry about her sister, it also felt like Cath was trying to make her conform to her wishes. Not to mention that whole line about “I don’t want to read my m/m fanfiction to you because there’s a gay dude downstairs.

6. A popular author you can’t seem to get into.

Marie Lu. I tried reading LEGEND and ended up skimming the last 50 or so pages. I tried reading THE YOUNG ELITES and didn’t make it even 20 pages in. It makes me SO MAD because all of my friends seem to super love her work and I’m just meh about it.

7. A popular book trope you’re tired of seeing.

Love. Triangles. Please, please stop. They are so boring, so tired, and so morally weird and I can’t stand them.

8. A popular series that you have no interest in reading.

256683THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS by Cassandra Clare.

I read CITY OF BONES but it took me a month to finish it and I only made it halfway through the second book before I gave up. Even before I knew all the drama surrounding her, I couldn’t get into the books at all.

9. The saying goes “The book is always better than the movie”, but what movie or T.V. show adaptation do you prefer more than the book?

I absolutely loved this book but the movie just added so much heart and emotion and Logan Lerman was the absolute perfect Charlie.

The book touched my heart but I absolutely SOBBED in the movie theater.

And that’s it for my unpopular opinions! I tag anyone who wants to do this!

CaptureThe Mid Year Freak Out Tag was originally created by Chami and Ely! Yes, this is another BookTuber tag and one day I’ll make a YouTube channel so I can do tags there but until then…

I can’t believe June is almost over! We’ve reached that half-way point in the year and it just reinforces my belief that the older you get, the fast time flies. I have read a staggering 90 books so far and I’m hoping to keep the momentum going and finish the year out with a bang.

Without further ado…

1) What is the BEST book you’ve read so far this year?

This one was SO hard. Even excluding books that won’t be released until 2018 (which is where my FAVORITE book will be), narrowing it down to one was… impossible. So I picked three.

THE UPSIDE OF UNREQUITED by Becky Albertalli is my first pick. I’ve gushed about this book so much, y’all should know exactly what it’s about. This was one of those books that gave me happy, summer feels.

WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI by Sandhya Menon is a super recent read. There is literally nothing about this book I didn’t like. I think the characters were super sweet and relatable and I am a sucker for a happy ending.

WHEN THE MOON WAS OURS by Anna-Marie McLemore snuck up on me in a lot of good ways! I knew the premise of the book going in but no one prepared me for the utter magical Autumn feel about this book.

2) Best sequel you’ve read so far?

WILD BOY AND THE BLACK TERROR by Rob Lloyd Jones. This was a close one because of the Grisha series I plowed through last month but… this sequel to WILD BOY was so satisfying and I loved every minute of it.

3) New release you haven’t read yet, but want to.

GEM & DIXIE by Sara Zarr. I have heard so many good things about this book and I can’t resist a story about sisters.

4) Most anticipated release for the second half of the year?

It’s definitely a tie between WILD BEAUTY by Anna-Marie McLemore and THE WONDERLING by Mira Bartok. Both of these books have such stunning covers!

5) Biggest disappointment?

TASH HEARTS TOLSTOY by Kathryn Ormsbee. I tried to read this earlier in the month and just couldn’t. I may give this another shot later on, but Tash’s character just completely turned me off.

6) Biggest surprise?

BONE GAP by Laura Ruby. I had been putting off reading this for such a long time because I had friends who said the book was pretty awful. I ended up reading this on a whim and absolutely fell in love.

7) Favorite new author? (Debut or new to you)

Mackenzi Lee! I can’t wait for everyone to read THE GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE TO VICE AND VIRTUE!

8) Newest fictional crush?

We all know how about Nikolai Lantsov at this point.

9) Newest favorite character?

This one is hard, too! But probably Finn O’Sullivan from THE BONE GAP.

10) Book that made you cry?

THE YEAR OF SHADOWS by Claire Legrand. I cry easily but this book really wiped me out at the end.

11)  Book that made you happy?

THE SMELL OF OTHER PEOPLE’S HOUSE by Bonnie-Sue Hitchcock. This isn’t a particularly happy story… but it is a hopeful story and it has a stick-to-your-ribs goodness about it.

12) Most beautiful book you’ve bought or received this year?

I’m giving this one to THE SMELL OF OTHER PEOPLE’S HOUSE by Bonnie-Sue Hitchcock.

13) What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

IT by Stephen King. I just want to be finished with this mammoth, send help.

So, that’s it for my mid year freak out! Comment below if any of these books sound interesting to you! And I tag anyone who wants to do this!

The Reading Habits Tag!

CaptureThe original Reading Habits Tag can be found here!

I love booktube and I love all the tags that booktubers create! However, since I don’t make videos (yet), I decided to move this tag to my blog!

  1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
I generally read on my bed at night. On the weekends, I do like to pile blankets and pillows on the floor in front of my bookcases and read there.
  2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?
I have a HUGE collection of bookmarks… and I rarely use them. Usually I just remember what page or chapter I was on or I use a sticky note.
  3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/or a certain amount of pages?
I can’t stop in the middle of a chapter! How do people do that?? I do try to read 100 pages every day but if that 100 pages ends in the middle of a chapter, I keep reading.
  4. Do you eat or drink while reading?
I usually don’t eat because I’m afraid of dropping something on my book. I usually make a cup of tea when I start reading… and promptly forget about it (whoops).
  5. Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?
  6. One book at a time or several at once?
I used to be strictly one book at a time but in the last few months, I’ve had several books going on at one time. I do this a lot with super huge books.
  7. Reading at home or everywhere?
Everywhere! I read at home, at work, at the park, at the coffee shop…
  8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?
It depends! Of course if I’m in public, I read silently. But when I’m at home, I read to my dogs!
  9. Do you read ahead or even skip pages?
If I’m bored with the book, I do have the tendency to skim pages. If I’m unsure about the ending of a book, especially character deaths, I will read ahead to see if they survive or not. Spoilers don’t bother me or take away from my reading experience.
  10. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?
BREAK ‘EM. Kidding. I don’t purposefully break the spines but if it happens, I’m not going to freak out. I have books that look like they’ve never been read and I have books that look super well-loved.
  11. Do you write in your books?
ALL THE TIME. I write, highlight, and tab books!
  12. Who do you tag?
    Anyone reading this!
